FAQs

What was Shelby's (Founder and clinical therapist) path to becoming a mental health professional?
"I believe my path to becoming a mental health professional started before I was born and likely started with my parents and my parents' parents and ancestors. My own personal experiences growing up prompted me to embark on a journey of self-healing to discover my authentic self.
By investing in therapy myself, navigating the mental health system, becoming fascinated by why people do what they do and think what they think, it led me to become a licensed clinical independent social worker, a speaker, an author and a prayerful guide to share the hope for restoration and prosperity.
Continued healing, growth and prosperity is possible. "

I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Aren’t people who go to therapy weak?
Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. In our work together, we'll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing.
03
What can I expect during a therapy session?
Your first session (the intake appointment) is about gathering information and building our therapeutic relationship. We want to hear your expectations for us and our work together, what your therapy goals are, and what brings you to therapy now. Typically, we do not go into a lot of detail at the intake appointment. We like to think of the first appointment like we are at an open house: we are touring the house together. We will open doors and see what’s in each room and closet, see what we are working with, but then we close the door and move along. In our subsequent sessions, we work together on building progress towards your mental wellness goals while we gather a more detailed understanding of the concerns that bring you to therapy. You set the pace at which we go in our sessions together.

Do you offer in person or virtual therapy services?
FAQs

Both! In-person sessions are offered in Cincinnati Ohio.
Virtual sessions are offered to individuals residing anywhere in Ohio and Kentucky.
05
How often would we meet for therapy services?
Most often, clients meet with me on a weekly or every other week basis. To start, we strongly recommend newer clients meet with us either weekly or every other week in the beginning and adjusting frequency as needed. Additionally, we prefer that all of our clients meet with us at least once a month. 🗓

We can discuss decisions about frequency and termination or graduation at any time and provide my feedback or recommendations. The final say and decision depends largely on you!

Do you accept insurance for therapy services? How will I know what my insurance will cover?
Yes, we accept a variety of insurance plans. Please contact us to verify if we accept your current provider. Your peace of mind is important to us, and we're here to help!
Some or all of your fees may be covered by your health insurance, if you have outpatient mental health coverage. You will need to check with Rooted in Prosperity Wellness Services to see if your insurance is accepted.

Please be aware that some insurance companies may or may not reimburse and It is your responsibility to verify the specifics of your coverage.
Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates for therapy services.
We’d recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:
-
Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
-
Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
-
Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
-
Do I have a co-pay for services?
-
Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

What are the benefits of paying private pay for therapy services?
FAQs

There are several benefits to paying for therapy sessions out of pocket. Private pay clients have more control over their treatment. Benefits can be found below:

Confidentiality:
You and your mental health professional are the only ones who will know the details of you and your therapy. Outside of legal limitations to confidentiality, nobody else has access to your chart.

Individuality:
Most insurance companies require you to have a diagnosis. You may not need one! Although we are licensed to diagnose when needed, we also understand not everyone seeking counseling/therapy services warrants a diagnosis.

Flexibility:

By using self-pay, you won’t have any limits on what your therapy should look like. You have more influence on the focus, duration and frequency of therapy.

Responsibility:
Research shows that clients who self-pay tend to yield more positive outcomes. If you’re paying out-of-pocket, you have a bit more motivation and incentive to make the most of therapy.

Self-Pay options:
Intake session: $100
Ongoing Session: $75

Payment options:

A credit or debit card is required to be on file.

We accept cash, Venmo, cash-app and all major debit or credit cards, as a form of payment.
08
What your no show/ cancellation policy?
In the event that you are unable to keep your appointment, we ask that you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment. You will be charged a fee $65 if you fail to show and do not cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment. This must be paid prior to scheduling again. Should you fail to show up to your scheduled appointment without 24-hour notice of cancellation two (2) times within a one-month (30 days) period, you will be dismissed from Rooted in Prosperity Wellness Services, and we will assist you with referrals to other agencies.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. This law was intended to reduce unexpected medical bills (for example: your Primary care Physician is out of network with your insurance, and you end up with a surprise bill.) Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. Don’t worry, my costs are listed under the rates tab and we will always discuss any changes. There are no surprise bills here! Here is what you want to know under the Good Faith estimate law: You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your psychological service. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
